Q. Please tell us about your journey toward applying to Baylor's JPR&NM graduate program.
When searching for grad schools, Baylor was the first university to capture my attention. Coming from a small liberal arts college, I wanted to have a Division I experience at a nationally ranked university. Uncertain about where to go, every decision kept pointing back to Baylor. That being the case, I decided to tour the school and the JPR&NM graduate program. Needless to say, I never looked back. Fast forward seven months later and here we are. I am so proud to call myself a Baylor Bear!
Q. What has particularly attracted you to Baylor’s JPR&NM graduate program?
The attraction to Baylor’s JPR&NM program initially was the atmosphere. As soon as I walked in as a prospective graduate student, the faculty seemed genuinely interested in me as an individual. I believe the JPR&NM staff wants to see their students succeed, and this quality alone makes me even more excited to be a part of the Baylor/JPR&NM family.
Q. What are your long-term career goals?
As far as my long-term career goals, I want to obtain either a corporate PR job or work for an established PR firm. I am also open to the idea of obtaining a Doctorate Degree later in life if the opportunity arises.
Q. Your favorite part about being a grad student in this program:
My favorite part about being a grad student in this program is the amazing friendships I have already cultivated. In a graduate program, you could not ask for a more solid group of people, and I am excited to get to know my colleagues even more as the semester progresses.
Q. Advice to students interested in joining the JPRNM program:
My advice to someone interested in joining the program is to never let fear stop you from applying to graduate school. It is easy to think you won’t get accepted, but my advice would be to just go ahead and apply rather than always wonder “what if.” I would also say to believe in yourself and show yourself grace from time to time. You never know how your future could unfold if you just take that first step in the application process.
